Prof Rajiv Wijesinha, has responded to a UTHR report.

The Prof challenges or creates doubt about the integrity of UTHR only when the UTHR reports put the blame on the government.

This may be the role expected from the secretary of the peace secretariat.

Many people not only in Sri Lanka, but throughout the world respect reports either from D.B.S.Jeyaraj or from UTHR on any matter relating to Sri Lanka whereas the credibility of the Government is almost zero.

The reports from UTHR and DBSJ are always independent, trustworthy, impartial and fearless.

People have lost faith in the judiciary as well as in the academics and the liberals. After 18months the investigation has not progressed at all.

Is it because there is no will on the part of the government? Does justice is possible only through international intervention?. Why is that the liberals rather than welcoming any international assistance are opposed to them on flimsy grounds? Are they part of a cover up?

The liberals are supposed to be the guardians of good governance and the rule of law and supposed to relentlessly pursue the offenders until justice is done. They will always stand up against autocratic government’s actions against individual rights.

That is an ideal!

They could never hide behind sovereignty and oppose R2P.

The tragedy of Sri Lanka will continue for ever!

Prof Wijesinghe is now the Secretary General of Secretariat for Coordinating the War Process. This person tries to call all the victim families, IIGEP, UTHR, international community and evrybody other than Mahinda regime liers and wrong.

This is not new in Sri Lanka. Prof Wijesinghe, show me one instance where any of the members security forces or Sinhala political establishment charge sheeted or punished in the history of Sri Lanka. Shame on you, Prof Wijesinghe.

Wijesinha,

Having abducted/disappeared/intimidated witnesses and effectively covered up crimes, after 18 months, you are trying to find fault with the UTHR that tries to do a commendable job of investigating it.

To have any standing to question the UTHR report, you should have proactively protected witnesses, cooperated with the IIEGP, conducted a transparent investigation and indicted the perpetrators--18 months was ample time to do that.

Everyone knows there is no peace process. Why don't you tell the truth that yours is a "secretariat for covering up abductions and murders."

Even with only 10% of what the UTHR has been reporting, the case against the Rajapakse regime is damning.

So, resign, tell the truth and save any modicum of credibility you might have had. Or, face the consequences as someone who has been part and parcel of a criminal enterprise that has been implicated in abductions, murder and rape.

We are not that stupid to believe everything said by UTHR.

But the point is there were so many murders done by Sri Lankan forces and not any of them were investigated properly and culprits punished (or at least the then Government is punished). And worst of all they get promoted.

This time they won't be lucky.

The court of public opinion have already tried and convicted the case even before the Courts have had a chance to put this to a trial. UTHR is not an impartial organization by a long shot, they cry to the International community then claim that its their only avenue as the Government has not CONVICTED the alleged people that UTHR claims are responsible for the crime...yet the due process part has not been concluded???

UTHR has a political agenda, their credibility here is highly questionable. They have been very wrong on several other occasions dating back to the 1990s! Just check their history of fattening casualty figures, and embellishing on the stats. Please allow for the Trial to be concluded and the Evidence presented. That;s all I ask. If found guilty then so be it. If not then so be it too.
