[...] Responding to questions from the audience, Ambassador Jayatilleka quipped about the “extraordinary rendition” of events contained in the recent U.S. State Department report on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka. The references in the report to paramilitaries were ironic given the experiences in Diyala and Anbar provinces in Iraq, where former Sunni fighters, referred to by some as paramilitaries, were now part of the stabilisation effort. This was even truer in other parts of Iraq such as Basrah, where power was handed over to armed Shiite personnel belonging to the government, but condemned by some as paramilitaries led by warlords. This reliance on so-called paramilitaries and the holding of elections under less than normal, even violent conditions was an inevitable feature of stabilisation efforts in conflict zones. Recently, when in South Asia, an election campaign was marred by suicide bombings and an Opposition Presidential candidate was killed by a suicide assassin, the West kept urging the holding of elections as the best answer to terrorism, but in Sri Lanka they urged exactly the opposite concerning our Eastern province.
The report by the Department Of State is 100% correct. The report is excellent and it reflects the current situation in the North East with accuracy.

No wonder the defiant and arrogant Government Of Sri Lanka that covers up truth is outraged !

The United States state department is an amazing agency because it can so easily see through all the half-truths and lies of the Tamil and Sinhala media. The US human rights report gives the distilled truth of what is going on in Sri Lanka.
I would be very nervous if I was Mahinda or Gothabya. Maybe an all out war effort with no respect for human rights might have some unforseen consequences for them and for SL?

Isn't Gothabya a US citizen? The US could nail him so easily. Foreign Corruption Practices Act, is one way I know of. But I am sure there are many others better ways to bring him down. It is open source information he fabricated Karuna's diplomatic passport. And Gothabya is the one calling the shots in Eelam War IV

Wow the US is now crtisizing other countries on human rights practices when on two weeks ago the president vetoed a bill banning the use of torture of terror suspects and how many people have they killed in cold blood in Iraq.

Get real USA, just like you face the scurge of terrorism and have taken extrem measures to neutralise this so to must other countries, lets not forget it was the FBI that branded the tigers as the most dangeorus terro group in the world and pioneers of suicide bombing.

Substantial evidence presently placed by the US state department, Human Rights Watch(HRW) and Amnesty International(AI) at the UN Human Rights Council, proves beyond any doubt whatsoever, that the government of Sri Lanka is utterly criminal in its behaviour in the North East of the island.

With "most disappearances in the world" taking place in the island, the Sri Lankan state has become the worst criminal country in the world, as far as disappearances are concerned.

The criminality against the tamils is highly orchestrated by the government and is well supported by the Sinhala law makers, the mass media and the Sinhala masses.

The entire Sinhala nation now has an arrogant attitude, rendering support to the extent of about 80 percent to the criminal behaviour of the state. So we do have a state and its majority citizens involved in the criminality against the Tamils. They are like a pack of coyotes waiting to accelerate the extermination of Tamils in the North.

A criminal should be treated as a criminal. He should be isolated, tried, punished and rehabilitated. As the Sinhala nation is criminal and is becoming more criminal daily, the people of the nation should be also treated likewise.

Therefore, there is an urgent need firstly to isolate the criminal state from the Tamil victims in the North East. And then the culprits should be arrested and tried in a court of law. This should be followed by the rehabilitation of the entire Sinhala nation to live with moral values.

A remorseful criminal could be easily rehabilitated but not the one who justifies his criminality with untruth and fabrication. The government of Sri Lanka is untruthful and defensive instead of repentance about its acts of murder and disappearnce. the job ahead would therefore would be arduous.

Pakistan, China, India and Japan are accomplices of the criminal government of Sri Lanka in the midst of "Darfur type destruction", disappearances and displacemets in the North East. Human Rights and values appear to be less important for them than their monetary gains. This ttrend is dangerously disastrous.

State terror is escalating aggressively and Tamils are paying in blood to live in the North East. The UN should neither repeat "Rwanda mistake" nor allow "Darfur type destruction" in the North East.

The UN and the UN Human Rights Council should therefore be seriously and urgently committed to action against the criminal government of Sri Lanka, to prevent any attempt by it to accelerate genocide in the North East of the island.

Bishop Desmond Tutu, the South African born Nobel Peace Prize winner once said " if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor".

Some serious questions come to mind.

Is the proscription mantle going to be passed on from LTTE to GoSL?

Some 'minor' names have been dropped.
Is this a precursor to a SL deck of cards?
Will it include the US nationals?
Will this deck be used to 'urge' GoSL to tow the UN line for its physical presence in SL?
Is it going to be worrying times for the bigwigs with foreign kickback accounts and assets?

Can we guess who will be the Ace of spades?
What about the other 'major' cards?

All this is going on for years and years, at least USA realized it now, well done. Now the "million dollar" question is what you going to do about it?

Srillankan state terrorists behave like super power and dictating USA, Europe and other so called emerging super power.

This so called emerging market lack credibility as a neutral mediator, they are pretending to be the regional super power without any vision or conflict resolving skills, they are going for the all out elimination of the Tamil people's existence and livelihoods with the help of Srilankan state terrorists.

If you had produced a report about the India it would have been the identical twin to Srilankan one.

Western countries please realize it before it is too late, also your investments in India is in great danger.

US and other Western allies need to educate these undemocratic countries, and proof who are the real super power.

Does anyone gets punished for all these crimes? No, Never. Because of so called democracy everything is legal.

Sri Lanka is the only nation where Terorists are elected democratically like Hamas is Palestine.

Palestine Government (Hamas) policy is Isreal does not exist.
Srilankan Government policy is Tamil Nation does not exist.
