When the President took oaths, inter alia, he pledged to uphold the
Constitution. In refusing to implement the 17th Amendment he is
in open and brazen violation of the Constitution - which is an
impeachable offence. Every appointment he made is ultra vires the Constitution. In the US or any developed nation such a
thing will be unthinkable. How adult are our democratic institutions
to bring such a man to justice? Here is an instance where CJ
Sarath Silva, who has endeared himself to many in the country in recent times, once again establish he could be counted upon to uphold the Constitution.

The Chinthanaya is towards remaining in power at any cost. This is the most corrupt and murderous government since 1948. It is a haven for all those who have illgotten wealth enjoying same at the expense of the ordinary people.All who wish to avoid prosecution have found shelter in it - in the 108 Mega Cabinet and the fringe acolytes of same. These include the “Democratic” wing of the UNP - not that the remaining UNPers are saints.
The emasculation of the Bribery Commission, the non-appointment of the Constitutional Council and the ‘burial’ of COPE reports enable all of them to survive - most of them having become multi-millionaires in the process.
The latest exercise in survival is the just concluded “election’ in the east under the shadow of the armed militia of the TMVP/goverment alliance.
Above is a good resume of what has happened so far in sri lanka and gives an indication of what will happen in the future - a totalitarian state in the making - of the corrupt, by the corupt and for the corrupt.

Well said. We can not see any hope for rightful governance. When their positions are used only for their advantage. There is no worries on any one to bring this to notice. Democracy has become meaningless.

Why waste our time talking of a constitution based on a Unilateral declaration, that created the rebel state of Sri Lanka, annexing the North East illegally and occupying it now militarily?

More ill informed analysis from bush doctor with an axe to grind. Get a grip on reality and try writing without fear or favour instead of peddling this third rate psuedo poltical clap trap that does the round of the terror websites trumpeted as some worthwhile and objective analysis.
