"The day is not far off when some of the people who have fallen asleep in the Cave of perverse, human-handed, Apocalyptic thinking are going to stir and wake and walk out of that burial chamber like Lazarus, seeking news of a living world. I see a time when the nation will rise up with a new appetite for Peace and a new craving for Justice. It is time to open the road and to announce - not with words, but with actions - our commitment to each other, to tomorrow, and to democracy, because "we have also come to this hallowed spot to remind ourselves" - in King's words - "of the fierce urgency of now."

[A concluding remark by Becky Lourey -
Oakland United Methodist Church - Minneapolis, January 15, 2006. Here, she refers to the famous quote by Martin Luther King.]

No, no more "taking more time". The Sri Lanka matter has endured 60 long years of suffering - and as per King's words, a matter that warrants the "fierce urgency of now."

So, Basil plans are afoot to convert Srilanka to another North Korea. Good that means the MPP will be told when to clap and put a smily face. Now I get a clear picture and guess who were conducting classes for JVP cadres in the the 70's with a covered face. At that time the cadres were told the speakers are from North Korea. I am specifically refering to the 'Mulkirigala' area. In other words those ' tutors' are in the higher places and kicking even today. Thanks Basil for clearing my doubts as I was breaking my head over the years to find out who these masked 'tutors' were. So you are sure to achieve with the ballots what you failed with the bullets, and all of us will be taught how to stay alive with the wild snails.

HE the president needs more time so that Rajapakshe Inc can stash public funds in Bahamas and Hawaii.
Rajapakshe brothers can collect more 10% kick backs ans buy new houses in Europe and USA.

HE needs more time so that GAS & essential goods prices can become unaffordable to ordinary people.

HE needs more time to mess up the war and have no peace parleys to fall back on!

HE needs more time so that the eastern paramilitaries can turn against him and SL Forces and create another chaotic east for Moslims and sinhalese!

HE needs more time to lie and ruin this country so that JVP can take over by the barrel of the gun.

The "right thing"? The "right thing" for a statesman to do is boldly ackowledge where it has faulted and make the corrections irrespecive of the political fallout. Yes, all peace loving people of the world are expecting President Rajapaksa to do the "right thing" - and that is for him to make a bold statement along the lines, "I aknowledge that the unitary propostion on the Mahinda Chintanaya is not quite correct - and the only remedy to the challenge in Sri Lanka is a political solution along the lines of a federal model - and from now on I am comitting all of my resources to evolve such a framework and build the necessary political consensus". Now, that would be to do the "right thing".

But unfortunately Sri Lanka does not have such leaders - who are willing to take significant personal political risks in the better interest of the nation. Despite the poor attempt at the comparison to the Kennedy's, President Rajapaksa is certainly no JFK and Basil Rajapaksa certainly no Bobby Kennedy.

APRC is already a flop as Wickramaratne, who was working on a new power-sharing system, told IANS that there was no need for him to be in the government after it decided not to go beyond the devolution formula in the existing constitution.

But only one thing strike to my mind though they are planning for a long haul ride on the sinhala masses, I like the idea of north Korean and Cuban style of rule, who knows in 10 -12 years time next one in the line may well be BR himself. God save the Srilankans.

Tamils have no other alternative support the LTTE on one voice and win your Tamil homeland. Put a side your egos, revenge and hatred.
Please don't get me wrong.

Yes. The Sri lankan President should take more time to study the 50 year old ethnic problem and try to solve it before this century. The executive President of Sri Lanka is not capable of finding a solution even after that time scale. It is not confined to Mr Rajapaksa but anyone. When they come to power, they bring their pencil and paper to study with the support of the people of Sri Lanka. When they leave or force out of the presidency, they will become mature and have a four year degree in their hand in ethnic studies and genocide.

ie. CBK now admitted that she failed to solve the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka.
